"Tatyana" and "Valeria" will pass under the railway

Tuning complexes of the German company Herrenknecht, with a difference of a month, began the construction of stages from the ramp chamber on site 25.3 to the future station "Aviamotornaya" of the Big Circle Line of the capital metro.

The tunnel-boring mechanized complex “Valeria” set off on November 15. A shield with a gentle name will pave the left distillation tunnel. However, “Valeria” cannot be called a fragile young lady - the 64-meter TBM weighs 480 tons.

And the Iron Lady's track record is not small. On its shell there are ten stars, equal to the number of tunnels passed through. The excavation will be carried out by section No. 3 of Tunnel-2001 LLC under the leadership of Evgeniy Bibikov.

At a depth of 45 meters, the TBM awaits almost one and a half kilometers of difficult geological conditions.

– On its way there are dense clays, 300 meters of rock – strong limestone, and closer to the exit it will encounter water-logged sand, the site manager specified.

The right section has been building the Tatyana complex since October 15. With the same weight as Valeria, it is even longer (79 m). The excavation here is carried out by SMU-1. Within a month, the machine installed 54 of the 950 rings of concrete lining.

The TBMs will leave behind them tunnels with a diameter of six meters. In the meantime, “Tatyana” and “Valeria” have a difficult path ahead - they have to overcome more than 1.3 kilometers under the transport and industrial infrastructure of the Lefortovo district. In this case, it is necessary to pass under the Dangauer overpass and the railway at the Novaya station without incident.

– “To carry out the tunneling without stopping the movement of trains, a whole set of measures has been developed,” says Evgeniy Mamonov, deputy chief engineer of SMU-1. – In particular, the installation of safety packages on railway tracks. These are additional metal structures that strengthen the rails in such a way that they remain in place even if the soil beneath them subsides.

An additional difficulty that metro builders will encounter closer to the exit of the shields is associated with the nearby operating metro station “Aviamotornaya” of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line. This section will be covered at reduced speed.

The launch of “Valeria” from pad 25.3 was the final one for this camera. In the first half of September, the excavation of the Olga and Svetlana TBMs, which started from here towards Nizhegorodskaya, was completed. When the right and left tunnels to Aviamotornaya are completed, the total length of the section between stations will be about 2.5 km.
