"Warshavskaya" was faced with marble

In the previous issue of the newspaper we talked about the Kashirskaya station, which has radically changed both in appearance and in its “filling”. And what is happening with “Varshavskaya”, what innovations the builders managed to introduce into it are given in this material.

Each stage of the Varshavskaya station modernization was approached with great care.

We started with redevelopment: some of the premises were expanded, some were combined in order to equip Varshavskaya with modern systems. The track walls also acquired a new look: instead of the old tiles, they were lined with marble.

Local bas-reliefs depicting iconic buildings of the Polish capital were also restored. Four forged panels had to be disassembled into the smallest parts. Then specialists restored the metal using sandblasting, after which all the elements were reconnected. By the way, they not only have a decorative function, but are also inspection doors for replacing cable and wire products.

All artistic compositions, made of sheet aluminum alloy, have already taken their places on the track walls. Drawings of historical panels were also repeated in the decoration of the lobby columns - the image was applied to perforated steel panels.

— After improving the design solutions of the station from the 60s, we still managed to introduce new engineering systems, including fire protection. Thus, four groups of smoke removal columns were added to the platform section, and two fire-safe zones were installed for people with limited mobility, located closer to the exits to the lobbies, noted Sergei Zhukov, General Director of Mosmetrostroy JSC.

Among the innovations at Varshavskaya, it is worth noting the passenger elevator in the western lobby of the station. Now the builders are updating the entrance pavilions and infrastructure, the architectural finishing is at the stage of completion - readiness exceeds 90 percent. Next year, Varshavskaya, which previously belonged to the shortest Kakhovskaya line, will become part of

Big ring. Thanks to this solution and the integration of this station and two neighboring ones - Kakhovskaya and Kashirskaya - passengers of the capital's metro will be able to get to other areas faster. For them - and this is over 370 thousand people - travel time will be reduced by four times.
