Chairman of the Regional Public Organization "Afghan-Metrostroy" Viktor Aleksandrovich Korduban, a veteran of military operations and the Moscow Metrostroy, celebrated his 60th anniversary on December 28 in the circle of those who are infinitely dear - in the circle of relatives and military friends - for whom he lives and gives his strength, health and time. He is a happy person - in the deepest meaning of the word - complicit, involved, not indifferent to the affairs and concerns of his environment and to the destinies of the Fatherland. And this is very important for Korduban, a hereditary Cossack, warrior and patriot.

Viktor was born in Kuban in the Kushchevsky district of the Krasnodar region, grew up on the Don - in the city of Gukovo, Rostov region. Gukovo is a mining town, so it is no coincidence that after graduating from high school he entered the Moscow Mining Institute. After finishing his second year, he decided to leave for military service in the Soviet Army. Having received the military specialty of reconnaissance engineer in “training,” Korduban was sent to serve in Afghanistan, in the 3rd raid mountain battalion of the 371st Berlin Guards Order of Kutuzov and Bohdan Khmelnitsky Infantry Regiment. Perhaps the most significant and dramatic period of his life is forever associated with these military names. As part of his regiment, as a reconnaissance sniper, he participated in combat operations - in raids, several major operations, in particular, in one of the most successful, which took place with minimal losses, which was included in academic textbooks. This is an operation in 1984 in the Lor Kokh mountains to eliminate the Mujahideen's base in Farah province. During one of the combat raids, the infantry fighting vehicle in which Victor was located was blown up by a landmine. The consequences of severe mine-explosive trauma still affect us...

Victor faced severe trials, and he passed them with honor. As prescribed by the Military Oath. For the courage shown in the performance of military duty, Victor Korduban was awarded the medals “For Courage”, “For Military Merit”, the Afghan Order “For Bravery” and other medals.

Korduban’s career at Metrostroy began in 1987. It so happened that he did not graduate from the institute, but became a worker of whom the team is proud. Victor, as he should, mastered many mining jobs: a miner, a miner, an assembler of mine structures... But most of all he liked the specialty of a blaster in mining tunnels using the mining method. Probably, the character and military specialty of the sniper, which required endurance and patience, had an impact. Victor worked in a military manner clearly, accurately, without fuss. So he taught the youth: “Work with concentration, without haste.” Therefore, over the years of work, I have not committed a single safety violation, not a single incident, and have worked consistently without injuries or accidents. He worked in SMU-15, then in SMU-14, in SMU-9 he was a through foreman on drilling operations (section No. 7, water drawdown, soil freezing). For the last seven years he has worked at Stroymekhservice. His track record of Mosmetrostroy projects is not small. These are the tunnels of the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya and Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya lines, the stations “Timiryazevskaya”, “Bitsevsky Park”, “Peasant Outpost”, “Maryina Roshcha”, “Krylatskoye”, Leninskaya, Kutuzovskaya, Tula transport interchanges, etc. Mosmetrostroy employee, labor veteran. For his valiant work he has repeatedly received gratitude from management and certificates.

Кордубан отмечен наградами и за трудовое отличие: он почетный строитель Москвы, почетный работник Мосметростроя, ветеран труда. За доблестный труд неоднократно получал благодарности руководства и грамоты.

Victor has a wonderful family: his wife, Elena, works as the head of a department at the Moscow Psychological and Pedagogical University. The sons, Sergei and Vitaly, were raised in the glorious military-patriotic traditions of Russia. By the way, they were also born in December: Sergei on the 24th, Vitaly on the 26th.

In Mosmetrostroy, Viktor Korduban has been widely known since the late 1980s as an active participant in the Afghan veteran movement; one might say, he stood at its origins. In the late 1990s, he initiated the creation of the public organization “Afghan-Metrostroy” and headed it. His authority is indisputable both in the Moscow Association of Afghanistan Veterans and in the Russian Union of Veterans.

Uniting and helping the “Afghans”, caring for the mothers of fallen soldiers, participating in military-patriotic events, in the work of the Mosmetrostroy Veterans Council - this is not a complete list of what a worthy person, a sympathetic friend and a true patriot live by.

The editorial office of the newspaper “Metrostroyevets” joins all congratulations to the hero of the day. Health to you, Viktor Alexandrovich, happiness and prosperity! May good luck accompany you everywhere, may successes and victories please you on all fronts!
