We continue the “Keyhole” section. In it, an MS correspondent spends one day with a builder, “spying” on his work. This time the hero of the column was the mechanic of section No. 1 of SMU-8 Alexander Goncharov. He talked about why his hands are often up to his elbows in fuel oil and what they bring him for repairs.

Sergei Sobyanin and Mechanic Alexander Goncharov have been associated with Mosmetrostroy for 13 years of work
On Vetkina Street, where the future Sheremetyevskaya station of the Big Circle Line is being built, section No. 1 SMU-8 is operating. Metro construction workers are excavating the middle station tunnel, as well as corridors to the small inclined machine room - the future transfer to Maryina Roshcha.
This is where the site mechanic Alexander Goncharov works. His main responsibility is to monitor the serviceability of all mechanisms and utility networks on the site and in the mine. It is also he who is responsible for the construction and installation of all metal structures.
For example, to install metal insulation, an anchor must be welded to it. It is made from a piece of reinforcement and a square washer. The result is the smallest finished product, which is submitted for testing to an ultrasound laboratory.
The larger ones include embedded parts, seals for passing large pipes between the walls of a station under construction. In general, everything that is necessary for the construction of the facility at the moment.
– “Everything that the site breathes,” says the mechanic at work.
More recently, the mechanical workshop SMU-8 came under the control of Goncharov, which after reorganization was attached to his site. Now they turn to him with all breakdowns.
Compressors, winches, mortar blowers, fans, and, in the winter season, heat generators come in for repairs or major overhauls. The workshop is noisy, lathes and metal cutting machines are working. A warehouse of iron products for various purposes is located nearby, in the courtyard.
– My working day begins yesterday evening, when I write separate orders for the night and day shifts of underground mechanics and welders, as well as mechanical shop workers - electricians, mechanics, turners. It is necessary to take into account all applications received during the day, urgent repairs and scheduled work,” notes Goncharov.
Early in the morning he is already at the site, accepting new applications. Usually at the end of the night shift something breaks, something we can’t get around to. In the morning, the locksmiths and I solve the problem together. During the process, they check whether everything necessary is in the warehouse.
Then Goncharov adjusts the day’s outfit, and the employees go to their work stations. If everything goes according to plan, all that remains is production control during the shift and paperwork.
The site mechanic's office is littered with documents. Among the papers, a work computer and Goncharov himself are barely visible. At the same time, his hands are often covered in fuel oil, and his overalls, as he himself admits, sometimes become the dirtiest among engineering and technical workers.
– I have one bad rule - it’s better to do it yourself, so as not to redo it. It happens that the same part of a mechanism constantly fails. I look at it myself, figure it out, tell the employee what the problem is, and we solve it together. I don’t stand there with a jackhammer, of course, but I will always help, give something, support. As a result, your hands are often up to your elbows in fuel oil,” the mechanic admits.

Goncharov, together with electric equipment repairman Yuri Egorov, check the dimensions of the workpiece before sending it for milling
Goncharov was born in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov region. He is a mining engineer by profession. In 2004 he graduated from the South Russian State Technical University (NPI), specializing in the design and construction of mining machines and equipment.
He came to Mosmetrostroy in 2006. I worked for a year as a mechanic at the construction of the Trubnaya station. He was a shift mechanic. Since 2007, he has held the position of site mechanic.
For 13 years in the company, he has seen different stages of metro construction. Every time everything was new and interesting. I went to Trubnaya for finishing work and start-up. Then there were the tunnels and stages of Maryina Roshcha: I got acquainted with the process of tunneling, injection control, caulking, installation of track concrete, ramp cameras. They built the Butyrskaya station from scratch.
Constructed a small inclined passage and an interchange at Nizhnyaya Maslovka. At Verkhniye Likhobory I learned what it was like to work in cramped conditions with a large influx of water. Now Goncharov and section No. 1 are working at Sheremetyevskaya.
– It would seem that the work is hard, but over time it drags on. You constantly worry about production, you get bored, you become attached to the team, which becomes a second family.
