Head of the SMU-25 section Oleg Goncharov is a hero metro worker who in 2019 saved five people drowning in the Black Sea. The Metrostroevets correspondent met with Oleg Petrovich on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day and found out how he lives.
That day, the man and his family were on one of the beaches in the Tuapse region. A storm was raging, people who dared to go into the water began to be carried away from the shore by the waves, and rescuers did not have boats and boats to reach the drowning people. But the tragedy was averted thanks to the courageous act of a metro builder who rushed into the sea to help. First, he gathered four people on an air mattress and gave them instructions on how to swim to the shore. Then he pulled another person out of the water on himself.
Goncharov has been working at Metrostroy for nine years and is now managing the interior finishing work at site No. 33 of the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya Line and at the interchange hubs connecting Aviamotornaya on the Kalininskaya Line and Elektrozavodskaya on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line with the BKL stations of the same name. SMU-25 positions its attitude towards work strictly: it plans to stay with the organization until the end.
He tempered such strong fortitude during his service in the Separate Security Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus back in the USSR.
In his free time, Goncharov actively attends sporting events organized by Metrostroy and city trade unions. For example, competitions in chess, checkers, shooting, tennis, darts, tug of war, as well as family relay races. He became a prize-winner in both individual and team competitions. If it is not possible to directly participate in the games, he always comes to support his colleagues with his wife and child. Another hobby of the metro builder is traveling around Russia by car. And his favorite place to relax, no matter what, remains the Black Sea.
