Introducing the new section “Keyhole”. In it, a Metrostroevets correspondent spends one day with a builder, “spying” on his work. The first hero is the head of the Stroymekhservice (SMS) section Vasily Yarovoy. He told why there were no personal belongings in his office, remembered the cabin of a Soviet excavator and showed the “heart” of the SMS.
The head of the Stroymekhservis section, Vasily Yarovoy, comes to work with roosters. So early - because I have to check the work of the drivers during the night shift and prepare their tasks for the new day. His office is in a two-story container house next to the parking lot for special equipment.
In Yarovoy’s room there is nothing superfluous: only professional books, folders, a computer and a large plant near the window.
– To my shame, I forgot the name of the flower, but I love it very much. Brightens up your working days,” says Yarovoy, settling into his chair. – I don’t keep personal belongings here, I don’t hang certificates on the wall.
First of all, he opens a folder containing special equipment, reminiscent of a patient’s card. Inside is a “medical history” of each car: breakdowns, diagnoses and repair dates. Yarovoy leafs through the papers and remembers how he himself drove an excavator in his youth.
– When I came out of the army, I was hired at a factory as a milling operator. The salary there was small. Soon I got married, I needed money,” Vasily Pavlovich shrugs. – Excavator operators earned good money at that time, so I went to study at the Mosmetrostroy technical school.
I worked in my specialty for 12 years. During this time, I got my head around Soviet technology.
– Now it’s more comfortable inside an excavator than at home. The driver Sergei Fomkin even keeps slippers in his cab,” Yarovoy laughs. - And in Soviet times there was a chair inside that looked like a stool, there was no heating. To keep warm in winter, they opened the door to the engine compartment. Cars often broke down.
Yarovoy answers phone calls all day - his mobile is almost smoking in his hands.
“I’ve already changed five SIM cards and several phones,” the site manager shakes his head. – One day I answered 189 calls - this is my record.
During the working day, Vasily Pavlovich must have time to visit the repair shop - the hangar to the right of the container house. There, SMS employees prepare cars for shifts, repair them and weld the necessary parts. It’s noisy inside from the roar of instruments.
– Hey, Lesha, smile, the journalists are filming you, Yarovaya waves to foreman Alexei Larin, who is repairing a bulldozer.
– I’m not “photohygienic”! - the foreman is distracted from work. – The machine is almost ready, Vasily Pavlovich, now we’ll assemble the “sloth” (assembly of the bulldozer’s chassis – editor’s note) and we can send the bulldozer to the line.
Yarovoy continues to walk around, carefully listens to the report of each employee.
– This is my best welder, Marat Musalov! – he nods at the worker in a black protective mask. – He reads the drawings himself, he can fix anything.
Yarovoy has lunch at noon in the neighboring dining room. After the meal he goes to a meeting with the CEO of SMS. The meeting takes place in the Administration building. This house was once a shower facility - a place where workers could shower, put on clean clothes and wash dirty ones. Then a second floor was built here, the floors were laid with marble, and renovations were made in the new offices.
The rest of the day, Yarovoy sorts out requests for equipment and runs into the workshop again - suddenly the employees need help. He finishes work at six o'clock in the evening and hurries to his wife in Balashikha. By the way, the work of
Vasily Pavlovich is continued by his son Sergei, deputy head of the site in Stroymekhservis. The grandson does not lag behind the family; last year he entered MGSU.
– There are people who love the profession. There are those who are serving it,” says Yarovoy. – Communication with people, cars, the bustle in the area – this is close to me. I get up easily in the morning for work and want to do it perfectly.
