Irina Muravyova: the metro often helped me out

People's Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the USSR State Prize Irina Vadimovna Muravyova:

As a child, I lived next to the Kropotkinskaya metro station and considered it the most beautiful. I liked walking under the arch there, going down the wide staircase, when tall beautiful columns gradually opened up in front of you. It was generally pleasant to be there: cool in summer, warm in winter. When I went to the dacha with my parents, we went from one underground palace to another until we reached Komsomolskaya.

When I grew up, the metro often helped me out. It happened that I was late somewhere, time was running out, but I would use the fastest public transport, and even have a few minutes to spare.

Now I myself don’t take the metro, I don’t know which line is called “red” and which “light green”. But I always listen with pleasure to reports that more and more stations are opening in Moscow.

I am happy for the people who were waiting for this, who will find it easier to get to the center or to study or work. I hope for the professionalism of those who work there - underground - on the new lines. I wish them to always be in demand and needed by our city.
