Any event has value as long as it is remembered. Among the obligatory places that every metro builder should visit is the village of Malye Vyazemy, Odintsovo district.
Veterans of Mosmetrostroy laid flowers at the memorial obelisk to the students of the Metrostroy flying club who were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
The monument was erected in 1971, 40 kilometers from Moscow, in the courtyard of a high school in the village of Malye Vyazemy, Odintsovo district.
Carved on a granite slab: “Here, in Malyye Vyazemy, in the pre-war years there was an airfield for the Metrostroy flying club. From 1935 to 1941, the flying club trained hundreds of pilots, glider pilots and parachutists. From here, in the terrible year of 1941, they went to the front. For the valor and courage shown in the battles for the Motherland, 25 students of the flying club were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.”
Veterans replenished the collection of the school museum with rare photographs, historical documents and memorable souvenirs. Our veterans consider it their duty to restore a monument that is significant for all generations of metro builders.
