One of the main exhibition complexes in Moscow - the Museum of Moscow and the flagship of the domestic metro construction - Moscow Metrostroy signed a Cooperation Agreement.
Soon, at various sites of the Museum of Moscow, you will be able to see rare artifacts of the Moscow Metroconstruction, including from the first stages of construction of the Moscow Metro.
The agreement provides for joint exhibition projects that reveal unknown details of underground Moscow and the history of metro construction, starting in 1935 - the commissioning of the first line of the capital’s metro. Separate exhibitions will be dedicated to the history of the labor feats of those who laid the first metro tunnels.
Already today, within the walls of the Museum of Moscow, the exhibition “Moskvichka. Women of the Soviet capital of the 1920s–1930s,” on which you can see portraits of metro construction workers who participated in the construction of the first stage of the capital’s metro, including Tatyana Fedorova, the first female mine manager, Hero of Socialist Labor.
–We are glad that our story will continue thanks to cooperation with the Museum of Moscow. This agreement is a continuation of our work, which we began with the exhibition “Lefortov’s Rings” in 2023. The exhibition, which was a great success, was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the completion of the Third Transport Ring and the opening of traffic along the Lefortovo Tunnel, in the construction of which we took an active part, noted General Director of JSC MosmetrostroySergey Zhukov. –It is important for us that the Museum of Moscow preserves historical memory. We are now working on another project to preserve the historical memory of the work of the pioneers, namely the installation of a monument to the “Metro Builders of Russia.” We hope that the city authorities and Muscovites will support us in this noble cause, and this monument will soon be installed next to one of the historical metro stations and will become an adornment of the capital of Russia.
–We have been working with Mosmetrostroy for a long time, and today we will build our joint activities on new grounds. It must be said that Mosmetrostroy plays an important role in the history of the museum association “Moscow Museums” and our collection. The Museum of Moscow has recorded the history of the creation of the Moscow Metro from the very first days. Without exaggeration, I can say that the capital’s metro is a unique architectural and engineering structure. No less interesting are the stories of people who gave their lives to the construction of the Moscow Metro, and continue to do so today. It is important for us to continue to work with Mosmetrostroy to document the construction process, so that future generations, in 100 years or more, will see how the most beautiful metro in the world was created,”General Director of the Museum of Moscow Anna Trapkovaemphasized at the ceremony.
