IEA at COP28: Financing the global energy transition
Background information

A quadrupling in clean energy investments is essential in emerging and developing economies if rising demand for energy services is to be met in a sustainable way and climate targets are to be achieved. However, capital-intensive renewable energy projects remain complicated to finance and will require an unprecedented mobilisation of private capital. This event will highlight effective measures to expand private investment in clean energy and improve public-private synergies through strengthened policies and public financing.
