The Climate Club side event at COP 28 will present the Climate Club as a leading high-ambition intergovernmental forum for exchange on industry decarbonization which serves as an enabling framework for increased cooperation and collective action across diverse geographies. The event will promote the full launch and inform about the key objectives of the Climate Club, underline the relevance of the Climate Club across countries and levels of economic development, and launch the global matchmaking platform as an important deliverable of the Climate Club. The global matchmaking platform will serve as a new tool that will match and improve the financial and technical assistance for industry decarbonization in emerging and developing economies. Under Germany’s presidency in July 2022, the G7 released a statement with the intention of establishing a Climate Club to support the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement by accelerating climate action and increasing ambition, with a particular focus on the industry sector.
